Description

I include several miscellaneous sites I visited during my Copeland trip in this photo collection. These photos include other national memorials such as the Gisozi/Kigali Genocide Memorial, the Nyanza Memorial, and the Bisesero Memorial. This collection also includes several local and district memorials I visited such as the Kibuye Genocide Memorial, the Musanze Memorial, and the Butare University Memorial. Finally, I include the Habyarimana Presidential Palace and the Parliament building as exemplifying the ways in which preservation holds a role in national symbolism and discourse.

The Parliament building preserves the artillery damage from the genocide inflicted on the complex. The building is another symbolic reminder in the leading role of the genocide in political discourse.
